Design Technology Day November 2025 - Seasonal Flatbreads

Year 6 Seasonal Flatbread Project


As part of our design and technology learning, Year 6 created seasonal flatbreads to celebrate UK history and traditional autumn foods. Pupils researched which fruits are in season in November, then designed healthy flatbreads featuring apples, pears, honey, and cinnamon — ingredients that have been enjoyed in Britain for centuries. Their creations combine historical inspiration with seasonal, local produce to promote healthy and sustainable eating.

 

Making Our Seasonal Flatbreads
Year 6 combined their chosen seasonal ingredients to create delicious flatbread doughs from scratch. They carefully measured and mixed the ingredients before kneading the dough to the perfect texture. Following kitchen safety instructions, pupils then lightly fried their flatbreads in a pan until golden brown. Finally, they added their seasonal toppings — such as apples, pears, honey, and a sprinkle of cinnamon — to complete their healthy, autumn-inspired creations.
