Year 6 2026 - 2027
Welcome to our Year 6 class page!
Class Teacher - Miss Basley
Teaching Assistant - Miss Shaw
Can you believe your children have reached their final year of primary school? There is much to look forward to, not least the Robinwood residential, in January 2027.
In Year 6, all children become buddies to our Year 1 children, which is such a privilege. The children look out for the younger ones and help them in the dinner hall, on the playground and with their reading throughout the year.
Of course, being Year 6 and the oldest in the school, the children have the opportunity to put themselves forward for a variety of different roles of responsibility such as Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl, Assistant Head Boy and Assistant Head Girl.
The children are working towards their SATS, which, in 2027, start on Monday 10th May to Thursday 13th May.
There will be opportunity for your child to attend an after-school SATS club from January 2027, where school staff will work with your children to boost them in the months leading up to the SATS.
And...what the children look forward to most about being in Year 6, is the end of year production!
Keep checking in to catch up with what the children are doing throughout the year as we will be updating our page regularly.
Homework
Homework will be given out every Friday and returned by the following Friday. Homework consists of a piece of Maths, which focuses on the current topic we are learning and our weekly spellings. Every Friday, Year 6 complete a spelling test on the spelling rules they have learned that week. Children are expected to read their school reading book daily to an adult and record this in their reading diary, at least three times per week. Additional reading of choice may also be recorded in the reading diary. Reading diaries should be brought into school daily. Additional work on Reading Plus, TTRS and SATS Bootcamp is also encouraged throughout the year and may also be set as homework.
