Maths at Home
Mathematics in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum comes under two strands, each of which has an Early Learning Goal attached which children should be at by the time they reach the end of Reception.
The goal in Nursery is to develop a strong understanding in number and this is essential so that children are able to develop the building blocks to shine within their mathematics.
We aim for our children to count confidently from one to 20 by the end of Nursery, as well as develop their understanding of the numbers and the different relationships between them. It is an Early Learning Goal for children to place numbers in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number.
