‘We Care, We Share, We Value’

Phonics and Reading at Home

Reading in Nursery

At this vital age, it is important that your child is encouraged to develop a love of reading. This will help to build a strong foundation for learning when they move up through the years and then for later life. Within class, children will listen to a range of stories, where the children will be exposed to different vocabulary and lots of illustrations. The children are also given opportunities to explore different books in the reading corner throughout the day, where they can sit down with a book. Children will also have 1:1 time with an adult, where they can be heard and discuss their books they are reading.  We also recognise that reading is an important life skill, but we also want our children will leave school with a real passion for reading.
